The diagnostic fee is applied to the repair if you go ahead with it. We don't guess at engine, transmission, electrical or "it's making a noise" problems — an honest number needs eyes on the car.
Ranges reflect recent jobs on similar vehicles. Final price confirmed after we see the car — no surprises.

You control every number the customer sees.
How estimates are built
- The customer's VIN is decoded to year, make, model and engine — live, from the federal database.
- We look for the same make + model + service in your job history and take the last 3 jobs → low/high becomes the range.
- If there's no exact match, we widen to same make + service, then to any vehicle, same service (and tell the customer the range is broader).
- Each selected service gets its own line. Lines are summed (low and high separately) and the shop fee is added once per visit.
- "Something else" becomes a flat diagnostic-fee line — never a blind repair number. Services with no history are shown as "call for price" and left out of the total.
